From the Owner Michael S. Novilla:
Jeff and Christine are a warm, sweet couple that we truly enjoyed working with. They were detail oriented, responsive and willing to listen and learn from our team. We made a unique beautiful wedding together that fit their vision. These are our favorite kind of clients, couples who know what they want – they have a dream wedding, and trust us to adapt and polish it so it works here in the “real world’. We all worked well together and, well as you’ll see from the lovely photos and smiling faces, everyone was delighted. I always enjoy meeting new couples, and working with them when they understand that we 100% have their best interests at heart.
After hosting over 1,000 successful weddings and events here at NOVA 535, we know what works well and what doesn’t, and in the same breath we believe in listening much more than talking, so we can truly understand our client’s vision and desires. Because it’s all about our clients and their guests happiness, and if you listen, they will tell you what they really want. And if they trust you to produce it for them, you can make wedding and event magic. And we did!!
Thanks again to all of our fabulous vendors (full vendor list at end of this blog) especially to our team with led by James, Ruby and DJ Jaey that help us create this beautiful St. Petersburg, Florida wedding.
CONGRATULATIONS to Christine and Jeff!

The Proposal:
We drove to St. Augustine, one of our favorite cities, for the day. Jeff suggested that we check out the lighthouse, which we had never been to on any of our previous visits.
After climbing to the top we were both admiring the beautiful view. Jeff pointed out something in the distance, so I was leaning over the edge to take a picture. I was lost in the view for a few seconds and turned back around to find Jeff on one knee. I don’t even remember exactly what he said, I was utterly shocked and surprised.
I always thought that since we dated for so long, that I wouldn’t be that surprised. I was so wrong. Jeff knows me too well, and knew how to make our proposal perfect.
How would you describe your theme?
I didn’t want our wedding to feel like a theme. Since Jeff and I dated for so long (10 years), we wanted our wedding style to simply represent us and our love for each other. There was a nice mixture of romance, with a touch of modern, vintage, and a few playful details.
When it came to color we went with a neutrals plus pops of color idea. We used shades of gray, ivory, yellow, a blue/green aqua, and a coral color.
We had so many little special details. Since Jeff & I never do things too traditionally we decided to do a paint ceremony instead of a sand or unity candle. This is now a piece of art in our home, which we plan on adding handprints/footprints to as we grow as a family.
What were the deciding factors for choosing NOVA 535?
When we started searching for a venue we knew we wanted something different and wanted to avoid the traditional hotel ballroom route. We absolutely fell in love with the venue when we toured it. We loved that it was so unique and modern, but also had so much character.
The space itself is GORGEOUS, but I would have to say that it was the staff that made everything exceptional.
Ruby, our coordinator, was so prompt with responding to my emails, many of which were after midnight. She was so helpful leading up to our wedding day, and made sure everything ran so smoothly the day of.
DJ Jaey made sure that our guests had a blast dancing the night away.
We had both our ceremony and reception indoors, and we are beyond impressed with the amount of work that went in during our room flip. I cannot talk highly enough about the entire staff at venue NOVA 535, they are just seriously the best!
