Every year the anticipation grows as the weather begins to cool and October rounds the corner and 2014 was even more electric as this would be our 8th NOVAWEEN in a row. We held the original NOVAWEEN even before we opened our doors and each year we keep building more fans, improving and tweaking and growing and well enough talk, let’s dig into the gory sexy wild details of St. Pete’s favorite halloween party, NOVAWEEN 8..

NOVAWEEN 8 here in 2014, is inside of a year with lots of positive change towards equality for all. State by State, person by person, attitude by attitude the concept that WE ALL ARE HUMANS is becoming more prevalent. It’s not about who you are kissing it’s about how you are acting. Are you making this world, OUR WORLD, a better or worse place by your words and actions? We at NOVA work towards equality towards collaboration, towards a better cleaner safer friendlier place for everyone. We call out the liars the bullies and the thieves – be gone from our planet! So we landed on the theme for NOVAWEEN 8, Don’t H8, Celebr8. If Monsters can get along, so can we! So I went as #8, aka Mr. Cue Ball, with only 8 fingers of course! Thanks for all the last minute costume help Jenna!

Daniel Jefferson, aka Motown Pride, center as angel in white, was our host and birthday boy, here with his Got Jokes crew and many of their special friends who came out to celebrate #8! 

For those of us around the age 40, we all LOVED Gilligan’s Island! Especially Ginger and Mary Ann! =D

VENDORS aka the Special people and companies who worked extra hard to ensure that NOVAWEEN 8 was our best yet. People outside of the Entertainment Industry cannot truly fathom how much time, energy, love and literal blood, sweat and tears go into each and every event and I offer my most sincere THANK YOU to all my fabulous vendors and helpers!!

Gypsy Allure is a Local, and each day becoming a more famous Magician and she our delightful Hostess and Costume Contest Judge here during NOVAWEEN 8. Trust me she’s even more amazing in person! Gypsy Allure provides magical, unique entertainment for upscale private events and corporations here in Tampa Bay, Sarasota and beyond, but be careful, she’s spellbinding!

Daniel Jefferson of Got Jokes Entertainment  was our Co-Host and birthday boy, Happy Birthday Motown!! Daniel was also one of our 3 Costume Contest Judges and is the founder of Got Jokes Improv and Entertainment company. A fellow Best of the Bay winner and my brother from another mother!

Jon LaBudde Owner of Reno Beach was our most excellent 3rd Costume Contest Judge for NOVAWEEN 8 Jon and I have been close pals for decades and he is truly the King of St. Pete. I don’t know anyone who has done more, consistently, to help grow our little sleepy city into the internationally recognized and sought after vibrant community that St. Pete and especially downtown St. Pete is today. Bravo Jon!! PS Jon is opening his newest restaurant RENO DOWNTOWN JOINT just now so please swing by, order a meal and some drinks and help him support our community!

Murray’s Chicago Deli provided the delicious Food for NOVAWEEN 8

Food was hot, delicious and plentiful from Murray’s Chicago Deli, which was once again a crowd pleaser. From chili dogs and hamburgers, to gluten free chicken and shrimp wraps to sandwiches and more. Murray’s food is always fresh and has a unique tasty edge. Nothing boring here! We are always delighted to have Murry, who himself comes out, celebrates and brings his warm, welcoming personality and tasty hot menu!! Love ya Murray!

We also created a fabulous sweet tooth Candy Bar, a decorated table full of delicious Hershey’s candies and other high quality chocolates for our guests to enjoy! Enjoy they did as the hundreds of dollars in real chocolates and high quality chocolates and candies were devoured! Sweet Tooth Zombies I guess!

Brother Chris a big Eagles fan surely cringes after seeing the lady in the Cowboy’s jersey…though at least the Bucs have a Superbowl ring!

Our large private brick and bamboo courtyard was lighted and decorated and filled with costumed freaks, lovely ladies, and gents of all sizes and shapes. They enjoyed the Murray’s outdoor grille, Bubbles, the lady creating all those massive bubbles, our face painter was busy early and then for the first several hours during the party, and the weather was about perfect. We enjoyed the music of scary symphonies and sound tracks from the best horror films. Around 10:30 pm our Tarot Card Reader opened up shop and began her readings…

Ladies with our evil mechanical clown! “You’ll taste better when your scared” he growls! Plus “I’m gonna kill them all!” I’ll make sure he isn’t out during our next kids birthday party here at NOVA…

Chris Jenkins, aka I’m Thier Web Guy, and NOVA 535’s web master too, getting his face painted. One of the rare moments when Chris isn’t offering some wisdom, in one form or another. Beautiful wife Kym is certainly nearby.
