Annemarie Masson studied Fine Arts in Montreal at College-Jean-de-Brebeuf where she received a Professional Degree of Art. Her passion for the design world led her to study Interior Design at Dawson College. She is now an artist who resides in St-Petersburg Florida.

Annemarie started her career as a textile illustrator for Harold Thomas Boxers in Montreal. Many of her designs were sold in retail stores such as Neiman Marcus in New York City. Moving to Boston, she was employed as a graphic designer and illustrator for the internationally renowned EF Educational Foundation. During this tenure, she pursued graphic design studies at the Boston Art Institute. In 1991 she moved to Vancouver and worked at The Globe and Mail’s WEST Magazine and later joined the production team of Match Point Magazine, a British Columbia tennis publication, where she combined both her experience in advertisement sales and graphic design. After moving to the greater Chicago area in 1997, Annemarie worked as an Interior Designer and produced paintings for many of her client’s homes for over 20 years. She has made painting her full time career and her studio is in the Warehouse Arts District of St-Petersburg Florida.

Raised in the countryside she is inspired by wildlife and Landscapes. In her larger scale paintings, her love of animals is interpreted on canvas with acrylics, oils, bold and sometimes humorous compositions, square brush strokes and impressive colors. Her abstracts are made from Lava rock sculpted on canvas adding organic and artificial materials to create reliefs. The distorted blends of pigmented lava rock are the foundation of her distinctive and contemporary compositions.
